On the edge of the chaotic protests in Chemnitz, one of the worst anti-Semitic attacks in recent years came last week. As the “world” reports, about a dozen neo-Nazis attacked a Jewish restaurant – almost unnoticed by the public.

It happened on the evening of August 27 at 21.40 in the kosher restaurant Shalom. The hooded culprits chanted: “Get out of Germany, you Judensau!” They threw the restaurant with bottles, stones and sawed off a steel tube. The owner was injured by a stone on the shoulder.

The State Criminal Police Office confirmed to the “World” a corresponding advertisement. A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior stated that “a politically motivated act with an anti-Semitic background would be obvious.”

The protests have been going on in the Saxon city for almost two weeks now. The trigger was a deadly knife attack on 26 August on a 35-year-old German with Cuban roots. Two suspects, who had come to Saxony as asylum seekers, are in custody on suspicion of joint manslaughter.

Also on Friday again demonstrated several thousand people. According to information from the city and the police, about 2,500 participants of a protest march of the right-wing populist movement Pro Chemnitz marched through the city center from the Karl Marx Monument on Friday evening.

According to them, there were about a thousand counter-demonstrators. Almost simultaneously, Chemnitz musicians gave an open-air classical concert against xenophobia and violence to several thousand visitors.
