Athen, Ein Gericht in Zypern hat am Donnerstag zwölf israelische Jugendliche wegen des Verdachts einer angeblichen Vergewaltigung eines 19-jährigen britischen Touristen in einem Ferienort auf der Insel in Gewahrsam genommen.
Die Jugendlichen zwischen 16 und 18 Jahren sollen die Frau in einem Hotelzimmer in Ayia Napa, einem bei Urlaubern beliebten Ferienort an der Südostküste, vergewaltigt haben.
Die Frau teilte der Polizei den Vorfall gestern Morgen in ihrem Hotelzimmer mit. Ärztliche Untersucher sagten, sie hätten blaue Flecken und Kratzer an der Frau gefunden.
Die Verdächtigen und das mutmaßliche Opfer hatten in Ayia Napa Urlaub gemacht, das für seinen nächtlichen Party-Lifestyle bekannt ist.
Die nicht angeklagten Verdächtigen wurden heute vor ein Bezirksgericht in der nahe gelegenen Stadt Paralimni gebracht, wo ein örtlicher Richter sie bis zum Abschluss der Ermittlungen acht Tage lang in Gewahrsam nahm.
In Übereinstimmung mit dem zypriotischen Gesetz über Vergewaltigungsfälle und weil einige der Verdächtigen gesetzlich Minderjährige sind, wurden die Verfahren hinter verschlossenen Türen durchgeführt.
Die Verdächtigen bedeckten ihre Gesichter mit ihren T-Shirts, als sie in das Gerichtsgebäude und aus diesem heraus eskortiert wurden. Einer war laut SigmaLive, einem zypriotischen Nachrichtenportal, in Tränen ausgebrochen. – Reuters
