Elephants, in sets of three, lumbered into my consciousness last Friday.

Here in the Zambezi Valley where the parched winter days are slowly desiccating the leaves and grasses; where bush fires are randomly lit in the hope of speeding up the succulent shoots of grass; where the lack of food induces the migration of wild animals looking for greener pastures, it’s elephant time.

A farm such as ours is like coming upon a Whole Foods or Food Lovers’ Market in the middle of the Kalahari Desert. Just imagine being the hungry elephant that first smells an oasis of growing wheat sitting alongside laden banana trees?

The way Chris has told me stories about the challenges of keeping elephants out of his crops in the past, it’s as if the animals plan their excursions as we would at boarding school when going on a secret raid to…

Whether she is organizing, studying, or practicing self-help measures, she seems to look at the glass as “half full”. Take two minutes to ask sie about her Very First Place, Home Sweet Home!

Each and every one of us probably has something we are afraid of- it’s perfectly natural, nothing to be ashamed of, and simply part of being human. Whether you are afraid of spiders, the dark, snakes, clowns or even conkers- there’s a big scary world out there with a million different things to be afraid of.  Scary thought? FEAR NOT, you can exert a level of control over your worst fears and even master them.  And that’s an empowering and encouraging little thought isn’t it?

As fears go, I have many.  You might say that I am a bit of a wimp, a baby, a ‘scaredy cat’ or a big girl’s blouse.  At an everyday level, I am scared of spiders, crane flies (I don’t care what anybody says, those things are FLYING SPIDERS), melon seeds and the dark after watching a horror film.  On a deeper and…
